“Academy of Ancient Music (AAM) Music Director Richard Egarr will step down from his post as of the 2021-22 season,” writes Sarah Shay in Friday’s (7/27) MusicalAmerica.com (subscription required). “He succeeded founding Music Director Christopher Hogwood in 2006 and so will have been in the post 15 years. ‘I feel it will be time for me to move on to new challenges and opportunities,’ said Egarr. His accomplishments with the group are many: Tours of Europe, the U.S., and Asia; Proms appearances; two Gramophone Awards; the launch of the young-audience program AAMplify; the founding of the Choir of AAM; and the creation of AAM Records, conducting each release on the label to date…. A search for his successor is underway.”
