The Tanglewood Festival in Lenox, Massachusetts has announced details of its annual James Taylor and Friends Weekend from August 26 to 30. Guest artists during four concerts will include Sheryl Crow, Yo-Yo Ma, and John Williams, along with musicians from Taylor’s band; the final concert, conducted by Williams, will be a collaboration between Taylor and the Boston Pops, who will be joined by the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. The festival also will feature a percussion masterclass with Taylor band members Steve Gadd and Luis Conte, hosted by former BSO timpanist Vic Firth; a roundtable discussion on popular music, hosted by Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner, and film screenings of Taylor’s 1971 film Two-Lane Blacktop and his 2007 live-performance DVD One Man Band. Taylor has performed at Tanglewood seventeen times; his first concert at Tanglewood took place in 1974.
