In Sunday’s (4/28) Journal-Constitution (Lafayette, Indiana), Lauren Sedam writes, “During the 2012-13 season, Sara Mummey’s first as executive director of the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, the LSO tried to do things a little differently. This year, she said, they plan to do it again. ‘I think it’s continuing on the path we’ve been on in trying to bring in creative programing,’ Mummey said. ‘But I think it takes it to the next level.’ … Opening night [September 14] brings in Project Trio to perform with conductor Nicholas Palmer and the LSO. The group is based in Brooklyn and consists of a bassist, cellist and flautist, a rare combination, Mummey said. But if that doesn’t push the envelope enough for you, Mummey said the flautist is known online for beat boxing while playing his instrument.” On April 5, 2014, “The two sides of the Wabash [River] will come together when the LSO partners with the Black Cultural Center at Purdue University for a night of gospel as the Black Voices of Inspiration perform. Mummey said the LSO is particularly excited for this partnership. ‘It’s something totally new for us, totally new for the area,’ she said.”
