“The Lancaster Symphony Orchestra has announced its status as a finalist in the 2016 Nonprofit Innovation Awards,” writes Jenelle Janci on Thursday (1/7) at LancasterOnline (Pennsylvania). “The symphony’s Sound Discovery Music Programs are nominated in the programs category. The Sound Discovery Music Programs include Open Rehearsals, which introduce classic music to both students and adults, the Music Discovery Experience, a program serving the School District of Lancaster, the Gift of Music and master classes. The Nonprofit Innovation Awards recognize local nonprofits who are finding new and creative ways to engage their communities with limited resources. The award’s winner will be announced at an awards breakfast on Feb. 26 at the Wyndham Gardens York. Of the nine programs nominated, the symphony is the only Lancaster County nonprofit. Other nominees hail from York, Dauphin and Cumberland Counties. The Nonprofit Innovation Awards are a partnership between Central Penn Business Journal, the Lancaster County Community Foundation, The Foundation for Enhancing Communities and the York County Community Foundation.”
