In Thursday’s (4/22) Lexington Herald Leader (Kentucky), Rich Copley reports, “Lexington Art League executive director Allison Kaiser has been named to the same post at the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra. ‘She has an understanding of what is needed to artistically thrive and put things in place that will really launch the Philharmonic to some greater successes,’ said Scott Terrell, who was named the Philharmonic’s new music director just over a year ago. … Kaiser will succeed Peter Kucirko, who has been the Philharmonic’s executive director since 1999. He announced his retirement earlier this year, saying he had wanted to step down after seeing the orchestra through its change in artistic leadership. Kaiser said she will start work at the Philharmonic in August. Kaiser assumed leadership of the Art League in 2003, a time when the group was struggling after several quick changes in management. In the ensuing years, she raised the group’s profile through community outreach events that helped grow its membership and donor base as well as partnerships with groups such as Habitat for Humanity that helped take visual arts into new communities. … Orchestras are nothing new to Kaiser, who was the development director for South Florida’s New World Symphony.”
