The Evansville Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Evansville Ballet are joining forces for the world premiere of a new ballet, The Little Mermaid, at Evansville’s Victory Theatre on March 15. Based on the Hans Christian Andersen story, the ballet features music by EPYO conductor Brian St. John and choreography by Mark Bush, Evansville Ballet’s artistic director. Lighting design is by Sarah Stolnack from the University of Evansville. On the program the same evening will also be Glazunov’s Five Novelettes Op. 15, with the Eykamp String Quartet (comprising string players from the Evansville Philharmonic) and “The Swan” from Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals, both featuring dancers in the Evansville Ballet.
