The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra will perform during a Video Games Live concert to take place on February 5, 2010, at the Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, to be recorded for PBS. The concert will appear as part of PBS’s upcoming program on Video Games Live, to begin airing in June 2010. In conjunction with the television special, in July 2010 there will also be a companion DVD and Blu-Ray release, with behind-the-scenes footage, the “making of” VGL, and developer and composer interviews. A second Video Games Live CD, a follow-up to the original 2008 release, is also planned for July. “We believe the concept of introducing young audiences to an orchestra through the music of video games fits perfectly with PBS’s mission in a very new and creative way,” said Joe Campbell, PBS’s vice president of programming. “Our musicians are looking forward to being part of an interactive evening of music and video footage with fans of all ages,” said Babs Mollere, the LPO’s managing director.
