A memorial tribute to the artist manager Michal Schmidt will be held at the Liederkranz Foundation on 6 East 87th Street in New York City on December 6 at 5 p.m. Schmidt, the founder and president of Schmidt Artists International, Inc., died on October 22 following complications from breast cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. Schmidt began her career as an artist manager with the firm of Thea Dispeker, going on to form her own company in 1993. She managed violinists, violists, cellists, pianists, and chamber ensembles, and her roster also includes conductors of the Colorado Springs Philharmonic and the Alabama, Fort Worth, Jacksonville, Memphis, Pacific, Princeton, and Toledo symphony orchestras. Her company will continue under the leadership of Patricia Handy, Schmidt’s business partner at the firm.
