Midori’s Orchestra Residencies Program has announced that the participating orchestras for the 2012-13 season will be the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Arkansas Symphony Youth Orchestra in Little Rock; and the Reading Symphony Orchestra and Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra in Pennsylvania. For each residency, violinist Midori will spend five to seven days in Little Rock and Reading, working with the youth orchestras, performing with the adult orchestras, and participating in a variety of community projects. The first annual Orchestra Residencies program took place in Alaska in October 2004; the 2011-12 residencies are set to take place in Alexandria, Virginia and Eugene, Oregon. Any U.S. youth orchestra and its affiliated adult orchestra, with combined budgets not exceeding $4.5 million, may submit an application for an Orchestra Residency with Midori.
