“The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s president and executive director Mark Niehaus is on a medical leave of absence after suffering a mild stroke last Thursday,” writes Margaret Naczek in Tuesday’s (11/23) Milwaukee Business Journal. “The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra shared that Niehaus’ prognosis is excellent, and he is recovering at home. While Niehaus is on medical leave, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra board of directors named Susan Loris as the interim president and executive director. Loris is the [orchestra’s] executive vice president of institutional advancement. ‘All of us at the MSO are wishing Mark a speedy and full recovery,’ Loris said in an email. ‘While he recuperates, our mission, our season and all related operations will continue without delay or impact. Anybody who knows Mark knows he will be fighting to be back in action as soon as possible, but we will ensure he takes the time he needs. Thanks to his leadership, the MSO is set up for success and we look forward to an amazing holiday season in our new Bradley Symphony Center.’ ”
