The Minnesota-based organization Orchestrate Excellence will host a free community forum today (8/20), from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Central time) at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, open to the public and also streamed live at theuptake.org. Alan Fletcher, president and CEO of the Aspen Music Festival and School, will be keynote speaker at the forum, which will “explore our community’s role supporting the Minnesota Orchestra,” according to a press release from Orchestrate Excellence. “We are hosting this gathering to demonstrate our strong commitment to our orchestra, and to initiate a broader dialogue concerning the ways we, the community, can invest our time, talent and resources to help our orchestra thrive in the future,” said Orchestrate Excellence co-chair Laurie Greeno. At its website, Orchestrate Excellence is described as a “community based organization of over 1,400 individual supporters and organizational partners dedicated to preserving the artistic brilliance of the Minnesota Orchestra while finding a path toward a secure financial future. We are independent of both the Minnesota Orchestra management and musicians.”
