Seven contemporary composers will be featured in the Minnesota Orchestra’s Composer Institute on May 6 at Orchestra Hall. Music Director Osmo Vänskä will conduct the concert, featuring Henry Dorn’s Transitions, Adelina Faizullina’s Bolghar, Bobby Ge’s Remember to Have Fun, Molly Joyce’s Over and Under, Ryan Lindveit’s Close Up at a Distance, Nina Shekhar’s Lumina, and Sam Wu’s Wind Map. In addition to being performed in person, the concert will also be broadcast live on Classical MPR radio and live-streamed at the Minnesota Orchestra’s website and social media channels. Kevin Puts is director of the Composer Institute, which is co-presented with the American Composers Orchestra; before the pandemic, the Institute took place annually in January.
