A report Thursday (9/3) on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation website states, “Renowned Naples-born conductor Riccardo Muti will lead a free concert on Sept. 6 in L’Aquila, Italy, for survivors of the earthquake that struck the region in April. Artists from L’Aquila and the surrounding area will be in the orchestra and choir that Muti will conduct, organizers said on Thursday. The concert is taking place on the police school grounds where the funeral service was hosted for the quake’s 300 victims, as well as the site of the 35th Group of Eight summit meeting that happened in July. … Last month Muti agreed to lead Rome’s opera house and in May he signed a deal to be the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s new conductor for five years starting in 2010.”
