The First International Violin Competition Buenos Aires, for violinists between 15 and 27 years old, has been announced for July 2010. The competition will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from July 10 to 21 and grant prizes ranging from $15,000 for first place to $1,000 for sixth place. Other special prizes will include $2,500 for best interpretation of Ginastera’s Pampeana No. 1 and $2,500 for the best interpretation of an Argentine tango. Shlomo Mintz will preside over the jury, whose members will include Edward Grach, Itzhak Rashkovsky, David Cerone, Kimiko Nakazawa, Vera Tsu, Rafael Gintoli, Pedro Ignacio Calderón, and Enrique Barrios.
