The Seattle Symphony, Oregon Bach Festival, and ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) are among the arts organizations that have recently developed new websites or apps for mobile devices. Seattle has added a mobile version of the orchestra’s website, as well as applications for iPhone and Android mobile devices that allow patrons to purchase e-tickets that can be scanned on entrance to concerts. Seattle’s new mobile app also allows users to view a full performance calendar, explore dining options near Benaroya Hall, and access the orchestra’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube pages. The performing-rights organization ASCAP has launched a free redesigned mobile app that allows composers, publishers, and users to access ASCAP’s tools on any mobile device. Tools include the ability to do repertory searches, download royalty statements, and read industry news. The Oregon Bach Festival has expanded its Digital Bach Project website by adding an interactive exploration of Bach’s Goldberg Variations that includes score analysis with clickable notes, essays, graphics, and videos, as well as a harpsichord performance by Matthew Halls, the festival’s artistic director-designate. The site also includes HD video performances of Helmuth Rilling’s 2010 lecture-concerts of the Bach B-Minor Mass.
