Lina González-Granados is making her New York Philharmonic conducting debut this week for the orchestra’s June 9-12 “Picnic Performances” at Bryant Park in Manhattan. The first concert on June 9 was livestreamed free on NYPhil+ and the Philharmonic’s Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram channels, with an introduction by Broadway actor/singer Jessica Vosk. Programs include music by Joseph Boulogne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges (Symphony No. 2), Paul Creston (A Rumor), Igor Stravinsky (Dumbarton Oaks), Ruth Crawford Seeger (Rissolty Rossolty), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Symphony No. 25). Also on the program is the world premiere of I Am Composition, but Stronger by Ilana Rahim-Braden, a 14-year-old participant in the Philharmonic’s Very Young Composers Program.
