In Sunday’s (6/3) Columbus Dispatch (Ohio), Michael Grossberg writes, “A renowned Austrian conductor will take over the musical leadership of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra—as only the second person to assume the position in the 34-year history of the group. David Danzmayr will become music director at the start of the 2013-14 season. He will replace retiring co-founder Timothy Russell, who has had the job since 1978. Beginning next season, the orchestra will also add a position—that of creative partner and principal guest artist—for internationally renowned violinist Vadim Gluzman. … Danzmayr served for three years as assistant conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. The native of Salzburg has been a sought-after guest conductor for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra in Britain, Haydn Orchester Bozen in Italy, Mozarteum Orchester in Salzburg, Sinfonieorchester Basel in Switzerland and other internationally renowned orchestras. … Meanwhile, Gluzman, 39, has been internationally acclaimed for his technique, artistry and ability to connect with audiences. He has appeared with the Chicago Symphony, Israel Philharmonic, London Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony and other major orchestras worldwide.”
