Three of the Philadelphia Orchestra’s upcoming Mann Center concerts will spotlight students and alumni from The Curtis Institute of Music. The concerts—entitled “The Legendary Beethoven” (June 29), “Mozart and A Midsummer Night’s Dream” (June 30), and “Firebird and The Four Seasons” (July 1)—will be led by Associate Conductor Rossen Milanov. Featured soloists from Curtis will be violinists Benjamin Beilman and Yu-Chien Tseng; pianists Kyu Yeon Kim and twins Christina and Michelle Naughton; and harpsichordist Lio Kuokman. At the June 30 concert, Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter will narrate Saint-Saëns’s Carnival of the Animals; the program features Christina and Michelle Naughton and includes Lutoslawski’s Variations on a Theme by Paganini, for two pianos, Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos (K. 365), and Mendelssohn’s Overture to A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The Mann Center is located in Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park and has been the orchestra’s summer home since the 1930s.
