From the Top, the long-running National Public Radio program that features young classically trained musicians, has appointed PETER DUGAN as permanent host, beginning with the 2020-21 season. Dugan has a long history with From the Top, first appearing as a musician on the program in 2007 at the age of 18, and serving as guest host since the 2018-2019 season. Dugan has appeared as a piano soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician across North America and abroad. At home in classical, jazz, and pop idioms, Dugan has performed with artists ranging from Itzhak Perlman and Joshua Bell to Jesse Colin Young and Glenn Close. Orchestras that Dugan has soloed with include Houston Symphony, Kansas City Symphony, Mid-Texas Symphony, New Albany Symphony, New World Symphony, and San Francisco Symphony. At From the Top, Dugan will be joined by a team of co-hosts: violinist Vijay Gupta, violinist Tessa Lark, clarinetist Alex Laing, pianist Orli Shaham, and violinist Charles Yang. They will interview and collaborate with From the Top’s young musicians, and will be involved in leadership training, community engagement, and career development programs.
