The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will head to Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on April 23 to perform a concert fundraiser supporting music programs of the Wilkinsburg School District. The “Celebrate Wilkinsburg” concert at Wilkinsburg High School will feature PSO Resident Conductor Lawrence Loh leading music by John Philip Sousa, Gioachino Rossini, Josef Strauss, Domenico Cimarosa, and Duke Ellington. Also planned is a medley of popular American tunes, with the audience invited to sing along. The Wilkinsburg Student Drum Ensemble will perform with the PSO in “Ballsirenen-Walzer” from Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow. Serving as host for the concert will be WQED-FM morning host Jim Cunningham.
