“At the confluence of the Mon, Allegheny and Ohio rivers, the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival will bring together rapper Jasiri X and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, art and technology, and art installations that absorb people’s negative energy and explore interactions between Pittsburgh’s early inhabitants,” writes Kevin Kirkland in Sunday’s (5/10) Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “The free annual showcase of music, art and culture is set for June 5-14 in Point State Park and throughout the Cultural District, Downtown.… Artisans from around the country will sell in the Artists Market and musical acts on the Dollar Bank Main Stage will rotate among bluegrass, alternative, classical, blues and hip-hop.… By the park’s overlook and portal bridge, artists Michael Arcega of Los Angeles and Fernando Orellana of Schenectady, N.Y., will create public artworks.” On June 8, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform opera excerpts with the Pittsburgh Opera, led by PSO Resident Conductor Lawrence Loh. On June 13, chamber musicians from the Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras, a youth orchestra program based at Duquesne University, will perform.
