Rachel Cementina, newly named executive director of California’s San Luis Obispo Symphony.

The San Luis Obispo Symphony in California has named Rachel Cementina as executive director, effective on April 3. She will manage day-to-day operations for the 60-year-old orchestra, including the current season’s performances, Youth Symphony and educational programs, and annual Pops By The Sea program, and will lead fundraising programs and marketing and community engagement initiatives. Cementina’s background has included six years as the community engagement director for the United Way of San Luis Obispo County; most recently, she served as the director of membership, marketing, and philanthropy for the San Luis Obispo YMCA. “I am delighted to welcome Rachel as the next Executive Director of the San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra. She has a proven track record of commitment to and engagement with the SLO community and I am very excited to begin this new chapter together,” says Andrew Sewell, the orchestra’s music director and conductor.
