Among the orchestras with recording news are the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Handel and Haydn Society in Boston, and the Seattle Symphony. The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will release the first recording on its own new label, ASO Media, in February—featuring Jennifer Higdon’s On A Wire and Michael Gandolfi’s QED: Engaging Richard Feynman. The ASO’s partner for ASO Media is Naxos, which will handle physical and digital distribution. Two future 2011 ASO Media recordings will feature works by Christopher Theofanidis and Sergei Rachmaninoff. The Handel and Haydn Society has released a recording of Mozart’s Mass in C Minor on the London-based CORO label, the first of several planned recordings under Artistic Director Harry Christophers leading up to the orchestra’s 2015 bicentennial celebration. Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass are the among the Handel and Haydn’s Society’s future recording projects. In honor of Gerard Schwarz’s farewell season as its music director, the Seattle Symphony has released a three-CD set of the complete Brahms symphonies. The recording is the orchestra’s third self-produced recording, following its release of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in 2009 and Holiday Classics in 2008. Seattle is set to release its recording of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in December 2010.
