California’s Redlands Symphony announced that its June 6 fundraising gala, “Dancing with the Stars,” grossed nearly $195,000 for the evening, exceeding projections. In addition to dinner and silent and live auctions, the gala at the Orton Center on the University of Redlands campus included six local “celebrity” dancers, all area residents and supporters of the orchestra. The dancers—Berangere Robertson-Tucker, Debbie Brown, Martha Green, Pete Aguilar, Neil Macready, and Neal Waner—raised a combined total of more than $31,000 by collecting one dollar per vote from supporters. Brown, as the leading vote-getter, claimed the large mirror-balled trophy that went along with first prize. The Redlands Symphony has a six-concert season and is based in Redlands, California.
