On December 2 at 1:30 p.m., Oberlin Conservatory will livestream a recital spotlighting music for oboe and English horn, as part of its F. Lorée Oboe Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. devoted to the instruments and hosted by Oberlin Oboe Professor Robert Walters. The free performance will feature three Cleveland Orchestra musicians—Principal Oboe Frank Rosenwein, Second Oboe Corbin Stair, and English Horn Robert Walters—plus William Welter, principal oboe of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and musicians from Walters’ teaching studio at Oberlin. Welter, Walters, and Stair will perform the Beethoven Trio for Two Oboes and English Horn Op. 87, and Rosenwein will perform Richard Strauss’s Oboe Concerto. The day will also include a Q&A with Alain de Gourdon, president of the Parisian oboe factory Lorée, a master class with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra Principal Oboe Eugene Izotov, a reed class with Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra English Horn Christopher Philpotts, and an instrument exhibit.
