On Monday, February 5, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music will present “Playing to Win: Music in the 21st Century,” a panel discussion with innovators in the field of music focusing on the challenges and opportunities of the future. The discussion begins at 11:30 a.m. Eastern Time, and will take place at the Greene Space in New York City. San Francisco Conservatory of Music President David H. Stull will introduce the discussion, which will be moderated by Nadia Sirota and will include Jeremy Geffen, senior director and artistic advisor at Carnegie Hall; Isaac Thompson, vice president for artistic planning at the New York Philharmonic; Claire Bryant, a cellist, recent SFCM alum, and co-founder of the Decoda ensemble; composer Marcos Balter; and SFCM Trustee Payam Mirrashidi. This event is part of the conservatory’s centennial celebrations. The conservatory’s quartet in residence, the Telegraph Quartet-winner of the 2016 Naumburg Chamber Music Award-will perform at Carnegie Hall on Tuesday, February 6 in a concert presented by the Naumburg Competition. Also at Carnegie Hall, SFCM students will perform with Philip Glass and the Philip Glass Ensemble on Friday, February 16.
