Sunday (3/31) on the San Francisco Chronicle online, Joshua Kosman reports, “Striking members of the San Francisco Symphony reached a tentative agreement Sunday afternoon with the orchestra management on a 26-month contract. Assuming the deal is ratified this week by union members and the Symphony board, it paves the way for concerts to resume in Davies Symphony Hall as early as Tuesday morning. Symphony spokesman Oliver Theil said the musicians would return for the orchestra’s series of free concerts for elementary school students beginning Tuesday. The next subscription concerts, with guest conductor Bernard Labadie conducting a program of music by Mozart and Handel, will go ahead as planned on Apr. 4 and 5. So will a ‘Music for Families’ concert led by Resident Conductor Donato Cabrera on Apr. 6 and a chamber concert featuring Symphony musicians on Apr. 7. Theil said that no details of the agreement would be revealed until it was ratified. The Symphony musicians struck on Mar. 13, leading to the cancellation of four concerts featuring Mahler’s Ninth Symphony conducted by Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, and the scrapping of a four-concert tour of the East Coast.”
