California’s Santa Rosa Symphony has announced that it concluded its 2013 fiscal year on June 30 with a $282,754 surplus, representing the tenth consecutive fiscal year that the orchestra has finished in the black. In addition to record levels of ticket sales and donations, the orchestra credits its “For the Love of Music” Transformation Campaign and stock-market gains for helping raise its endowment to more than $6.5 million. During the 2012-13 season, the orchestra and Music Director Bruno Ferrandis performed 35 concerts at its new home, Weill Hall at the Green Music Center, including free concerts for 7,000 elementary school students. Other season highlights included an ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming from the League of American Orchestras, and a “Youth Orchestra of the Year” recognition for the SRS Youth Orchestra from Classics Alive Foundation, a California-based nonprofit that supports student musicians.
