Monday’s (6/28) Argus Leader (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) reports, “The South Dakota Symphony Orchestra announced today that it has hired Jennifer L. Boomgaarden of Omaha as executive director. Starting Aug. 15, Boomgaarden will be responsible for daily operations of the orchestra, implementation of a new five-year strategic vision and strengthening relationships with patrons, musicians and the community. Boomgaarden has been with the Omaha Symphony since 2003, most recently as vice president of education and community partnerships. She replaces the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra’s Tom Bennett, who left in December and now is executive director for the Boise Philharmonic. Bennett was executive director for 14 years. Board member David Xenakis served as interim executive director.”
