In Monday’s (4/1) Twin Cities Pioneer Press (Minnesota), Ron Hubbard writes, “Two new artistic partners, a brand-new concert hall and an opportunity to bid the old one bye-bye with Beethoven: That’s what the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra will offer during its 2014-15 season. The orchestra’s 56th season finds it finishing up its 30-year tenure in the Ordway Center’s main hall in downtown St. Paul and moving next door to the new 1,100-seat hall currently under construction. But not before performing all nine Beethoven symphonies by the time the March moving day arrives. As usual, the SPCO will be performing all over the map, bringing concerts to 14 different venues around the Twin Cities.” Highlights include concerts led by artistic partner Roberto Abbado; a world premiere by Nicola Campogrande; Jeremey Denk will make his debut as an SPCO artistic partner in works of Charles Ives and Mozart; and violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja launches her SPCO artistic partnership with Mozart, Bartok, and tunes from her homeland, Moldova. In March, “The new hall at the Ordway opens with music of Mozart, Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Adams,” and in April comes the world premiere of a piano concerto by Charles Wuorinen. The season concludes in late May.
