The Stockton Symphony Association recently formed the Amigos for the Artes-Symphony, a support group dedicated to serving the Latino and multi-cultural population within the San Joaquin Valley in California, in an effort to build a new audience and cultivate membership and patronage for the Symphony. Its founding members are Chair Arlene Galindo, Christine Schweininger, Linda Stockton, Sandi Cantanon-Ramirez, Ana Maria Zapien, and Dr. Ines Ruiz-Huston. Hosted by Vision Magazine and co-sponsored by San Joaquin Delta College and the James Irvine Foundation, the organization will be launched with a reception on October 4, 2013, followed by the Symphony’s Music Beyond Borders Concert featuring electric violinist Tracy Silverman in the Tillie Lewis Theatre at 7:30 pm. The event is also supported by the local Latino community with various establishments providing music, wine, flower décor, and catering. Through special concert packages and activities, the Amigos for the Artes-Symphony aims to promote an aesthetic experience of inclusion and understanding by providing opportunities to enjoy international music, culture and the arts for its members.
