“What did the final U.S. Presidential debate 2016 need? Glissandi, pizzicato and a healthy dose of tremolo, according to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” writes Kyle Macdonald in Thursday’s (10/20) Classic FM site (United Kingdom). “As Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton took to their podiums in Las Vegas, U.S. string quartet PUBLIQuartet had their instruments ready and improvised a 90-minute soundtrack to the lines of the candidates, titled Requiem for a Debate.” The Late Show with Stephen Colbert streamed the PUBLIQuartet’s performance on FacebookLive. Members of the New York City-based group are Curtis Stewart (violin), Jannina Norpoth (violin), Nick Revel (viola), and Amanda Gookin (cello). PUBLIQuartet was profiled in the Winter 2015 issue of Symphony magazine.
