The string quintet Sybarite5 is set to launch its inaugural “portable chamber music festival” on May 6 in Sarasota, Florida, comprising five concerts in five different Sarasota venues. The Forward Festival, as it is being called, will feature collaborators including Sarasota Orchestra’s principal cellist and harpist, Abe Feder and Cheryl Losey, as well as mezzo-soprano Blythe Gaissert, the Chroma Quartet, pianist Djordje Nesic, and percussionist George Nickson. Among the venues will be the Symphony Center and alternative art spaces like the HuB Incubator. The concerts will include music ranging from Debussy to Radiohead, as well as Revolve, a world premiere by Andy Akiho. Sybarite5’s members are violinists Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violist Angela Pickett, cellist Laura Metcalf, cello, and bassist Louis Levitt.
