In Sunday’s (4/11) Muskegon Chronicle (Michigan), Laura Alexandria writes, “It is estimated that 100,000 families in West Michigan are currently in need of food assistance. In conjunction with the West Michigan Symphony’s ‘Water Music: Experience the Lake Effect’ performances this weekend, concertgoers will have an opportunity to help stamp out hunger by donating non-perishable food items. More than 150 orchestras in 41 states will be participating in Orchestras Feeding America, an annual food drive sponsored by the national Feeding America program. ‘We want to be part of this community in more ways than just providing music,’ Carla Hill, president and CEO of West Michigan Symphony, stated. The League of American Orchestras ‘encourages orchestras across the country to participate’ in this annual food drive to fight hunger. … The collection buckets will be in place near the box office and throughout the Frauenthal Center for Performing Arts lobby from Monday through Saturday. Donations will be accepted Monday through Thursday during working hours and Friday and Saturday evening before the concert.”
