The Pacific Symphony has announced that Arthur Ong, who currently serves as executive vice chair of the orchestra’s Board of Directors, has been elected as chairman of the board to serve a two-year term. Effective January 1, 2023, he will succeed John R. Evans. Ong was most recently executive vice president and deputy general counsel at Pacific Investment Management Company and is currently retired. He has over three decades of legal experience, working with such firms as Barclays Global Investors, Morgan Stanley, and Davis Polk & Wardwell, and he also clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He holds a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University. He played the clarinet for many years and is returning to the instrument now.
