Catherine Beeson, assistant principal viola at the Colorado Symphony, is one of the participants in the League’s Anne Parsons Leadership Program.

On Friday’s (3/8) “Staccato” program on KMFA (Austin, Texas), host Judlyne Lilly-Gibson reports, “The League of American Orchestras is in the middle of a new program aimed at improving gender equity among top orchestra executives.” Lilly-Gibson interviews Caen Thomason-Redus, VP of Inclusion and Learning at the League, and program participant Catherine Beeson, assistant principal viola at the Colorado Symphony, about the Anne Parsons Leadership Program, which is currently in its inaugural year. Thomason-Redus discusses the aims and goals of the program, the role of the mentors, the participants’ talents, and the program’s achievements so far. Beeson speaks about her career aspirations as a musician interested in arts administration, and—given KMFA’s local focus—her ties to Texas. Beeson previously participated in the League’s Essentials of Orchestra Management program.
