In Tuesday’s (6/27) San Antonio Report (Texas), Flora Farr writes, “The San Antonio Philharmonic named former Councilman Roberto Treviño as its first executive director on Monday. Formed after the dissolution of the San Antonio Symphony last year, the San Antonio Philharmonic seeks to keep the city’s symphony alive and continue the tradition of classical music performances. The orchestra kicked off its first concert season in September with the theme ‘Forward Together (Adelante Juntos).’ Two months after the season’s final concert, Treviño who previously served on the Philharmonic’s first board of directors, was appointed by the board as executive director…. Treviño represented District 1 from 2014-2021. During his time as councilman, Treviño was an advocate for the arts and served on the City of San Antonio and Bexar County Symphony Transformation Task Force…. Some community guidance that Treviño said the board of directors has listened to closely is from the City of San Antonio and Bexar County Symphony Transformation Task Force, which has encouraged the Philharmonic to strive to create a multi-generational audience for itself so that the organization and the diverse community can mutually benefit from one another.”
